Thank you everyone, for visiting our table at Phillipsburg Ole Towne Festival this weekend. We enjoyed catching up with good friends and meeting new ones.
We were especially happy to see Mrs. Mary Polgardy. Mary has had a Phillipsburg Library card since 1936 and visits the library every week, “I don’t know what I would do without the library,” she said. Mary enjoys reading historical novels, suspense and even some science fiction! All that reading helped Mary win a prize during last year’s Adult Summer Reading Program.
The love of reading spans many generations in Mary’s family, “Monday nights were library nights with the grand kids when they were little,” she said, “and now my grandchildren bring their kids to the library’s Children’s Programs.” It is never too soon to start your child on the path to reading!
Under the shade of the Friends’ tent, young readers were able to browse through books to take home and enjoy. Each child also received pencils, crayons, a coloring book and information about the Library’s many programs.
If you received a gold tone angel pin in your packet of library information, bring it to next year’s book sale for a free book!
Friends of PFPL would like to thank Phillipsburg Ole Towne Festival organizers for the opportunity to reach our community. Special thanks to the Library staff, patrons and volunteers for their time and donations, we couldn’t do it without you!
