Update: Final Vote on County Funding of Phillipsburg Library

Dear Friends of PFPL,   Your presence, on behalf of our Phillipsburg Library,  is needed at the final vote on the Warren County plan to pull 100% of its funding as of July 1, 2018, and to demand the relinquishment of up to $350,000 worth of library books and other materials. This plan will cut the overall library budget by 50% and will eliminate service to residents of Lopatcong, Pohatcong and Greenwich Townships.   The Freeholders will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10 at the Warren County Technical School.     The public is encouraged to attend.  NOTE: Because of the community interest in this issue, the venue for the meeting has been moved to the school theater at the Warren County Technical School, 1500 Route 57, Washington, NJ 07882.    If you cannot attend the meeting but want to share … Read entire article »

Dear Friends of PFPL,   Our Phillipsburg Library needs your presence at the July 13 Warren County Freeholders meeting to protest the plan to eliminate 100% of its funding to Phillipsburg Library, and to demand a proportion of all books purchased since 2011.   If this plan goes through, residents of Lopatcong, Greenwhich and other townships will lose access to Phillipsburg Library. Students of Phillipsburg High School residing in those townships will likewise lose access to a conveniently located library that they can walk to after school.   Residents of Phillipsburg Town will still have access to the library, but with the loss of this funding, it will be a library greatly reduced in its collection, staffing, and hours open to the public. This is a tragedy and a slap in the face to a community that needs its library more than ever.   The Freeholders … Read entire article »
