July 18th Sensory Friendly Movie at Phillipsburg Library

Friends of PFPL, in partnership with Family Support Organization, proudly presents a “Sensory Friendly Movie” on Tuesday, Jul 18 at 6:00PM. Sensory Friendly Movies are special opportunities for families living with autism and others to enjoy movies in a safe and accepting environment. The lights will be left on and the sound turned slightly down in order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for individuals on the autism spectrum. Families are encouraged to bring their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks from home as well as blankets, pillows, stuffed animals and other soft, quiet toys. Audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or even sing! – quiet policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is in question. Coming to America: The Great Waves: The history of immigration to America from the first Colonial wave through the second mid-1800s wave of frontier expansion, culminating with the third Great Wave that passed through Ellis Island Immigration Station in the late 19th and 20th centuries. FRIENDS Receive Proclamation

National FRIENDS of Libraries week was October 16-22. In recognition of the week, Mayor Ellis and the Town Council presented to the FRIENDS group a Proclamation acknowledging the contribution and dedication of the FRIENDS volunteers to the library and community. Several members were privileged to receive this recognition on behalf of all FRIENDS of the library. Our Library needs Friends now, more than ever Our Library is a vital part of our community. It serves a crucial purpose within the community that provides access to information that allows people of all ages to be able to: read books, use the computers, listen to stories, enjoy programs, attend events and much more.
