March 14th – Women’s History Month Movie

The 2018 National Theme for Women’s History Month is: NEVERTHELESS SHE PERSISTED: Honoring Women Who Fight All Forms of Discrimination Against Women To honor this theme, we will have two showings of the hit movie Hidden Figures – an awe inspiring & incredible true story about three women at NASA whose tale embraces this 2018 theme. February 28 – Black History Month Movie

In honor of Black History Month 2018, Friends will present, on Wednesday evening, February 28th from 6:30 pm to 8:45 pm the film “Men of Honor” starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Robert De Niro. February 17th – Black History Month Disney Movie

In honor of Black History Month 2018, Friends will present, on Saturday, February 17th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, a Wonderful World of Disney TV movie, Selma, Lord, Selma about a young girl who encounters Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and becomes inspired to participate in the Civil Rights Movement. This American film is based on true events that happened in March 1965, in Selma, Alabama. February is Black History Month

  2018 National Black History Month Theme – African Americans in Times of War For more than 200 years, African-Americans have participated in every conflict in United States history. They have not only fought bravely the common enemies of the United States but have also had to confront the individual and institutional racism of their countrymen. Throughout America’s history, from the Battle of Lexington to the Battle for Fallujah, black Soldiers have honorably answered the call to duty, serving with great valor and distinction in America’s armed forces. 2018 Message from the President

Message from the President Hello everyone. Can you believe that 2017 is over? It seemed like the year just started. It went really fast. Maybe that was because the Friends group made great strides and we were fairly active throughout the year. I won’t reiterate our 2017 accomplishments again as I have bragged several times already. What I will do, is offer up the challenge to Friends members to come together as a group, as a team, to assist with and be part of Friends moving forward with ideas and plans to see what we can accomplish in 2018. December 9 – 3rd Annual Family Holiday Storytime Party

    Can you believe that the Holiday Season is fast approaching?  Plans for our 3rd Annual Children’s StoryTime Holiday Party are well underway. If you joined us before you know we had a good time. If this is your first, the children are in for a treat. So, won’t you bring the kids and join us? New this year - Pizza.  R.S.V.P. by November 30th. As always, volunteers are welcome and needed to help with the party, games and crafts and to read a story or two. As a special treat this year, our board member Pat Brisson, a published young readers author of 20 books, will not only participate in storytime but will give-away a signed copy of one of her books as a prize.
