SAVE THE DATE!!! April 25th, 2018 Program – American Revolution – The NJ Connection

Join us for our program:  American Revolution: The NJ Connection presented by Mr. Walter Choroszewski from 2:00pm to 4pm on Wednesday April 25th. Mr. C presented a program last year that was very interesting and well received. This presentation will focus on NJ’s contribution to the Revolution – From the tea burning at Princeton to the Treaty of Paris, to stories of the retreat across the Jerseys and the triumphant return across the Delaware. Battles at Princeton, Monmouth and Springfield, winters at Middlebrook and Morristown and Rochambeau’s march through the Crossroads of the Revolution. March 14th – Women’s History Month Movie

The 2018 National Theme for Women’s History Month is: NEVERTHELESS SHE PERSISTED: Honoring Women Who Fight All Forms of Discrimination Against Women To honor this theme, we will have two showings of the hit movie Hidden Figures – an awe inspiring & incredible true story about three women at NASA whose tale embraces this 2018 theme. February 28 – Black History Month Movie

In honor of Black History Month 2018, Friends will present, on Wednesday evening, February 28th from 6:30 pm to 8:45 pm the film “Men of Honor” starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Robert De Niro. February is Black History Month

  2018 National Black History Month Theme – African Americans in Times of War For more than 200 years, African-Americans have participated in every conflict in United States history. They have not only fought bravely the common enemies of the United States but have also had to confront the individual and institutional racism of their countrymen. Throughout America’s history, from the Battle of Lexington to the Battle for Fallujah, black Soldiers have honorably answered the call to duty, serving with great valor and distinction in America’s armed forces. December 9 – 3rd Annual Family Holiday Storytime Party

    Can you believe that the Holiday Season is fast approaching?  Plans for our 3rd Annual Children’s StoryTime Holiday Party are well underway. If you joined us before you know we had a good time. If this is your first, the children are in for a treat. So, won’t you bring the kids and join us? New this year - Pizza.  R.S.V.P. by November 30th. As always, volunteers are welcome and needed to help with the party, games and crafts and to read a story or two. As a special treat this year, our board member Pat Brisson, a published young readers author of 20 books, will not only participate in storytime but will give-away a signed copy of one of her books as a prize. 2017-2018 Annual Membership Drive

2017-2018 ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE Become a Friend or Renew Membership   Our membership drive is ongoing. Members and membership dues are an integral part of our organizational framework. Dues help us make our financial donations to the library and help Friends present programs and activities for community based projects. To do all that we would like to do, we need a few good friends. We are hoping to surpass our 2016-2017 sign-ups. By being a Friend for the Phillipsburg Free Public Library, you have an opportunity to become a voice for advocacy of the Library. Helping to raise funds for the Library, is an excellent way to help provide the Library and the Friends with much needed support to deliver programs, events, activities, electronic technology and anything else that will benefit the community. FRIENDS Receive Proclamation

National FRIENDS of Libraries week was October 16-22. In recognition of the week, Mayor Ellis and the Town Council presented to the FRIENDS group a Proclamation acknowledging the contribution and dedication of the FRIENDS volunteers to the library and community. Several members were privileged to receive this recognition on behalf of all FRIENDS of the library.
