Ever wonder why many of your favorite authors aren’t available in an eBook or eAudiobook format from New Jersey libraries? The answer might surprise you. The policies of the major publishers concerning selling eBooks to libraries are all different. For years libraries have worked hand in hand with publishers. That relationship has now changed drastically and libraries, including ours, find themselves unable to deliver the digital … Read entire article »

Thank You for a Successful Book Sale!
Heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported our annual Spring Book Sale, we were able to reach our goal of funding all three 2012 Summer Reading Programs! A record number of books, CD’s, DVD’s and even a collection of comics were donated this year. The Spring Book Sale is our main fundraiser for some of the educational and cultural enrichment programs that the library offers. The support from the community means so much, especially during these lean economic times. We were delighted to see so many familiar faces and made many new friends. The camaraderie of book lovers and reading enthusiasts while everyone browsed for books was wonderful. The library accepts book donations throughout the year. Many thanks to the librarians and staff for their assistance and hard work. We hope to see everyone … Read entire article »

10 Ways Libraries Matter in a Digital Age
Submitted by Greg Landgraf on Wed, 05/04/2011 – 09:26 After “10 Reasons Why the Internet is No Substitute for a Library,” a 2001 article in American Libraries, received some unwelcome attention two weeks ago, we sought your feedback to help create an updated version. You don’t need to be the proper age, or the proper race, or have enough money, or know the right politicians, or believe in the “right” things to use the library’s resources. Libraries are a gathering place. The physical structures and the programs within them make possible social and cultural discourse with friends and strangers. “They are a safe place … Read entire article »
