February 28 – Black History Month Movie

In honor of Black History Month 2018, Friends will present, on Wednesday evening, February 28th from 6:30 pm to 8:45 pm the film “Men of Honor” starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Robert De Niro. February 17th – Black History Month Disney Movie

In honor of Black History Month 2018, Friends will present, on Saturday, February 17th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, a Wonderful World of Disney TV movie, Selma, Lord, Selma about a young girl who encounters Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and becomes inspired to participate in the Civil Rights Movement. This American film is based on true events that happened in March 1965, in Selma, Alabama. February is Black History Month

  2018 National Black History Month Theme – African Americans in Times of War For more than 200 years, African-Americans have participated in every conflict in United States history. They have not only fought bravely the common enemies of the United States but have also had to confront the individual and institutional racism of their countrymen. Throughout America’s history, from the Battle of Lexington to the Battle for Fallujah, black Soldiers have honorably answered the call to duty, serving with great valor and distinction in America’s armed forces. Each February, the U.S. Army celebrates and pays tribute to black Soldiers and recognizes the important contributions they have made in past wars and are continuing to make today in overseas contingency operations.
