Friends and Neighbors – Dave Walker

Friends of PFPL are your friends and neighbors, people just like you who enjoy the Phillipsburg Free Public Library and support its programs in a variety of ways. Dave Walker has been a Friend of PFPL since 2010 and currently serves on the Friends executive board. A resident of Stewartsville, Dave holds 4 patents as a mechanical engineer and has designed and developed medical equipment for companies such as GE Health and Bristol Meyers. Library card is your passport to local treasures

The Library’s Facebook page recently recommended the Toulouse-Lautrec exhibit at the Allentown Art Museum, so I used my library card to check out a pass and took my family to see it last week. Several of Toulouse-Lautrec’s original drawings, as well as his famous Moulin Rouge posters and books were on display in replications of Paris street scenes, the artist’s studio and a drawing room.  It was awesome to be able to view them up close and in person, without having to go to Paris! The museum also showed a short documentary film of the artist’s life and influences, and the Belle Epoque period that Toulouse-Lautrec vivdly captured in his art.  The pass entitled us to a 10% discount at the museum’s café and gift store.  Here’s my little secret, museum gift stores … Read entire article »
