Sensory Friendly Movies at Phillipsburg Library

Friends of PFPL, in partnership with Family Support Organization, proudly presents “Sensory Friendly Movies” on Wednesday, Jul 13 and Aug 10 at 4:30PM as special opportunities for families living with autism and others to enjoy movies in a safe and accepting environment. The lights will be left on and the sound turned slightly down in order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for individuals on the autism spectrum. Families are encouraged to bring their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks from home as well as blankets, pillows, stuffed animals and other soft, quiet toys. Audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or even sing! – quiet policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is in question. Summer Reading @ PFPL

Summer has just gotten a whole lot more fun, thanks to Phillipsburg Free Public Library’s Summer Reading Programs*.  Read books for a chance to win prizes!   Children’s Summer Reading Teens/Young Adults Program Adult Summer Reading Every summer reader is a winner!  According to a three-year study at University of Tennessee, Knoxville, children who do not read in the summer lose two to three months of reading development. The study also showed that students who read during the summer showed a significantly higher level of reading achievement. Summer reading isn’t just for kids.  Reading helps everyone write better, spell better and increases our vocabulary.  Need some reading recommendations?
